Established in 2023 by eyewear enthusiast Jordane Wheatley, London-based label “LIEBESTRAUM” is an artistic eyewear label specialising in Unisex Optical and Sunglass design, championing the idea of “Universal Objects”. Named after the classical number by Franz Liszt meaning “LOVEDREAM” in German, LIEBESTRAUM focuses on Jordane’s discovery of self and an unapologetic state of mind in a “near-futuristic” lens.

  

LIEBESTRAUM comes from Jordane’s childhood. His mother used to play a classical number by Franz Liszt called “Liebestraum No. 3”, a sonnet about a love dream, which is the English translation of the word. This song is included in a lot of films and TV shows like “Blue Velvet”, “Westworld” and “I, Tonya”. It’s quite a subtle number, but once aware it becomes undeniably recognisable. She used to play it at least three a day whenever she drove him to school, to help him sleep, even when she was cleaning the house. LIEBESTRAUM was everywhere.

 

This was the main inspiration behind naming the brand this, as to us, we want our LIEBESTRAUM to be everywhere also.

  

Working with heavyweight biocell acetate and high grade titanium as our main material mediums, collaborating closely with our partners in Hong Kong, who were the manufacturing team who also worked on the eyewear for the original “The Matrix” Trilogy, we focus on design, quality and durability for all occasions. All frames have UV400 protection - ensuring the safety for the eyes of any customer whether they are investing in our sunglasses or optical frames.

  

All creations from LIEBESTRAUM are handmade in limited runs, with ethical practice in the forefront - ensuring all of our collaborators are paid a liveable wage.
