Liebesträum by Jordane Wheatley is a London-based eyewear label, focusing on designing universal and unisex products. Our optical and sunglass designs’ primary materials are renewable cellulose acetate and high-grade titanium. Collaborating with crafts experts from East-London to Hong Kong, the label founded in 2023 has gone through impressive efforts to build community with some of the heroes of its founder, Jordane Wheatley’s — our manufacturing team in Hong Kong are the very same people who worked on the eyewear designs featured in the original Matrix films.
“Liebesträum” is the German word for “love dream”. Influenced by the visual language of early 2000s video games, Jordane became fascinated at an early age of how eyewear, particularly sunglasses, are able to set unspoken boundaries between the self and the world, allowing people to feel confident and protected. The lucidity of reality sometimes requires us to smooth out some of the edges in order for love and imagination to proliferate. Growing up as a shy kid, Jordane used to wear his father’s sunglasses and pretend to be his favourite video game characters. As he grew older, wearing eyewear allowed Jordane to feel that he could become the most confident person in the room. In any room.
